Classical guitars are ideal for beginners because they have nylon strings, which makes them easy to play, and because their smooth tone is less noisy than a steel-string acoustic guitar. It's also worthwhile to note that, in spite of their name, classical guitars aren't specifically oriented toward classical repertoire.
